Do Something that Makes You Happy

Take a walk, play with your kids, pet your cat, sing, dance, read a book, watch a movie, write a poem, meditate, or cook a nice dinner for yourself.

Whatever it is, spend at least 10 minutes today doing something that brings you joy!

No guilt, no judgement, just have fun!!!!

Remember to Say, “Thank You” to the Universe

When you are on the path to manifesting better things into your life, you make mistakes, especially in the beginning:

  • You don’t trust or believe the Universe is listening.
  • You get impatient or frustrated when it does not arrive as quickly as you would like.
  • Or perhaps you even get angry and throw a tantrum like a little child and demand the Universe give you what you asked for immediately.

That’s ok!

Manifesting is a process, one where you learn what works for you and your Higher Power what does not. With every step you take down the path to manifesting your dreams and goals, you evolve and grow.

Throughout this process the Universe (God, Jesus, Higher Self, Allah, etc.) patiently waits for you to learn and apply the necessary lessons. No matter how much you resist or fuss, the Universe never gives up on you or your dreams.

So today, take a few moments to say, “Thank You,” to the Universe or your Higher Power for it’s patience, guidance, and support.

You make even close your eyes, take a few breaths, and repeat the following prayer or create one of your own.

Enjoy the connection you make to Spirit and have a happy, healthy day!

4 Tips to Become More Present

Are you here?  I asked you that in a post a few weeks ago.  In that post, I explained the importance of living in the present moment.   Being present allows us to be worry-free, calm, and focused.  This leads to feelings of gratitude and joy.  Fretting about the past or the future causes us to feel disconnected, stressed, fearful, and angry.  These negative feelings can block our journey to success.

Being present in the moment is important in all aspects of our lives, from relationships, to work, to personal safety.  So, what are some things you can do to start living in the present?

  1. Breath – Breathing through the nose activates a relaxation response in the body.  This results in feelings of calm and focus.  Bringing attention to your breathing when you find yourself living in the past or future guides you back to the present moment.  You can only breath in the here and now.  Refer to my post, Just Breathe, for a useful diaphragmatic breathing technique.
  2. Become a witness to the moment – Whenever you notice yourself wandering away from the present, stop and take a few moments to observe your current situation.  Just observe, do not react.  Take note of the sounds, smells, colors, and activity around you.  Note what you are doing and how you feel.  Give everything a label.   Becoming a casual witness to what is happening around you rapidly draws you back into the moment.
  3. Remind yourself to be present – Between running from meeting to meeting, checking a never-ending barrage of emails, Facebook notifications, and text messages, not to mention managing a social life, it is easy to begin to focus on the next thing we need to do, rather than where we are.  When life gets hectic it can be helpful to set some reminders for yourself to help bring you back into the moment.  Try setting a few reminders on your phone throughout the day or put a note on your computer or a picture on your mirror, anything  that will remind you to stop thinking ahead (or behind) and be in the now.
  4. Meditation – Meditation is a technique that brings focus and stillness to the mind.  In meditation, you focus your mind on a single point.  This can be your breath, a mantra (a word or phrase), or even an object, like a candle flame.  As the mind wanders from your point of attention (and it will, especially at first) you gently bring it back around to the object of your attention.  Start small by spending 15-20 minutes each day meditating then slowly work up to 30-40 minutes several days a week to get the greatest benefit.  Be patient with yourself and go with the flow.


These are just a few of the ways you can learn to live in the present moment.  My hope is that these tips get you started down the road to living a mindful life and that you develop your own techniques to bring you all of the benefits of being present.  Good luck and have fun!

How many times did you complain today?  Take a moment and think about it.  How many times did you grumble and grouse throughout the day?

Traffic was awful, it’s cold out, your spouse forgot to take out the trash, your back hurts, your coworkers are incompetent, and your Starbucks coffee was too hot.  Everyday it seems we have an endless array of things to complain about, and we do.

Unfortunately, even small complaints can take their toll, leaving us feeling stressed and irritated.  However, all the things we are complaining about are just reminders of the many things we have to be grateful for.

  • So, traffic sucked?  At least you are alive to experience it.
  • Coworkers are idiots?  You have a job don’t you?
  • Maybe your spouse doesn’t help around the house as much as you would like, but you have someone with whom to share love and companionship.
  • Your coffee wasn’t to your liking?  At least you have the money to buy a coffee.

Learning to be grateful for ALL of your experiences in life including the annoyances, irritations, and hardships creates a shift in your perspective.  This change in attitude reduces feelings of tension both mentally and physically (bye, bye backache), increases happiness, and draws abundance to you.

So, the next time you find yourself wanting to complain about something, STOP and think about all of the reasons you should feel thankful for the experience:

“Yes, I sometimes find my coworkers irritating but, I am alive, I have a job I enjoy, I have an income, I work with people who give 100% effort to what they do…”

Be grateful now or else when it comes time to cross over to the “other side” you may find yourself wishing you were stuck in traffic with a cold cup of coffee.

From Loser to Winner in Minutes

Have you ever had one of those days where you just thought to yourself, “Ugh, why bother?”  You know those days, the ones where you feel like everything you do is doomed to fail miserably.  Where do they come from? Who knows.  Why do we get them?  No clue.

For most of us those moments of gloom don’t last very long, usually a day perhaps two.  But if left unchecked they can snowball into a serious case of depression.

Whether your suffering from a momentary lapse of reason or a more serious case of the “I’m a losers'” I have a quick tip  that can help you shift your mood and get back on track in no time:

Ask yourself, “What am I proud of?”  Make a list of all of the things you can think of you are proud of such as your work ethic, the business you started, your child getting an “A’ in English, your home, the landscaping you did on your yard over the weekend, going to the gym when you’d rather watch TV, your compassion, etc.  Next, ask yourself, “What else?”  I guarantee you will think of something else you are proud of.  Keep asking, “What else?” until you are absolutely out of things to brag about.  And that is what you are doing!  You are bragging about your accomplishments.

Your Ego is being a bully and telling you you are no good so stand up to that bully and let him/her have it!  Tell it every reason why you are a great amazing success!
